Open Casket Ceremony

An open casket ceremony is a type of Funeral ritual in which a Casket containing a deceased person's body is open for viewing by attendees.

During an open casket ceremony, the casket is left open to allow Surviving Family members and friends to view the deceased person's body.

Funeral Homes often prepare the deceased's body for public display, typically through Embalming and other cosmetic procedures.

Open casket ceremonies are a common tradition in many cultures and religions, but not everyone may choose to have one and the decision is often based on personal and cultural preferences, as well as the circumstances surrounding the death.

Also known as a Viewing.
