About

My therapy practice is founded on Presence, Acceptance, and Compassion. I believe that there is immense transformational power available to us when we are willing to uncover and engage with what has happened to us in this life. By tending to our deepest pains, we can adapt and even find the inspiration to embark upon a fulfilling and joyful existence. To begin, we need to be truly witnessed in a space free from judgment and filled with genuine care. Therapy is a place to show up as you are, to share your story, to be witnessed, and also sometimes, to be challenged to acknowledge and work through unhelpful patterns. I believe that, ultimately, you have the answers you need. I think innately, we all do from a young age, but certain life events cause us to become disconnected from the voice that knows. In our work together, I help you to draw out that intuitive voice that knows what you need and also seek to understand what caused it to become buried in the first place. I do this by being interactive in the room, learning about the difficulties you’re experiencing in the here and now, and applying an eclectic approach, uniquely tailored to you. In large part, I work psychodynamically, seeking to understand the full context of what has shaped you in life since early childhood. Because our healing work always intersects with our social world, I also approach therapy relationally. This means that I guide us to consider the relationship we have in the room, as well as how you show up in your relationships outside of the room. Other modalities I infuse into the work include CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and inner child work. I am spiritually open and welcome the use of tools such as tarot/oracle cards.

I graduated from New York University with a B.S. in Communicative Sciences & Disorders, having immersed myself in the subject of speech and hearing, before pivoting into mental health. I received robust on-the-ground training in community mental health as a field-based care coordinator, traveling throughout the boroughs to meet with my clients in their homes. I graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with an Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology and an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. Before moving into private practice, I worked in the college counseling setting with a diverse, predominantly first-generation, population of undergraduate and graduate students. Originally from coastal Massachusetts, I called NYC home for nearly a decade, and now live in the lower Hudson Valley. I spent much of my childhood at my family’s video store and find great comfort in film and storytelling. I am a serious music lover, feel most grounded in nature and love spending time with my people and my rescue pup, Gertrude. My own therapy, writing, and meditation round out my personal healing practices.
