Medicare

Medicare is a federally funded health insurance program that provides coverage to eligible individuals aged 65 and over and those under 65 who have certain disabilities.

After a death, Medicare may provide some benefits to Surviving Family members depending on their relationship to the deceased and their own eligibility for Medicare.

If the surviving spouse is over 65 and eligible for Medicare, they may be entitled to certain Survivor Benefits, continuation of Medicare coverage and/or Social Security benefits.

Medicare may also provide Bereavement counseling services to surviving family members, which can help them manage Grief.

However Medicare benefits do not cover Funeral or Burial expenses.
