As a death doula, I offer a wide range of services tailored to meet the unique needs and desires of our clients. I provide emotional support, companionship, and comfort to individuals who are facing the end of their lives. I listen with empathy and without judgment, offering a safe space for individuals to express their thoughts, emotions, and concerns about death and dying. I also work closely with families and loved ones to provide education and support during this challenging time. I help facilitate important conversations about end-of-life wishes, advanced care planning, and funeral arrangements. I offer practical assistance in coordinating care and connecting families with appropriate resources, such as hospice care, palliative care, and grief support services.

In everything that I do, my approach is rooted in compassion, respect, and empowerment. I believe that death is a natural part of life and that every individual deserves to have a peaceful and meaningful end-of-life experience. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs and desires about death and dying. I am committed to honoring the autonomy and dignity of my clients and work collaboratively with families and loved ones to ensure their needs and wishes are met.

What advice would you give someone looking to hire an end-of-life doula?

Be sure to do some upfront research and reflection. Understand what is most important to you about the end-of-life and grieving journey; as well as how, when, where, and why you need or want support. Think through the kind of person who will best align with you and /or your family. Create a list of questions to use when you interview a potential End-of-Life Doula: 1. How do you explain what you do? Specific services? Style and approach? 2. What drew you to this work? How did you get started? 3. What are your strengths? What do you enjoy most about this work? Dislike about this work? 4. What are your credentials and education as an EOL provider? 5. How many clients have you served? Deaths you've attended? 6. What is your philosophy of care and main focuses of care? 7. What is your fee structure? 8. Do you carry liability insurance? 9. As your client, what do you need from me? 10. What happens if this isn't a perfect fit for you or me or you can't fulfill our needs? (adapted from NEDA)

What questions should clients think through before talking to doulas?

What communication, beliefs, and social styles do you prefer? Are you able to work with a doula remotely, in person, or a combination of both? Would your doula need to share similar cultural backgrounds such as race, faith, ethnicity, etc? What are your true expectations for outcomes? (adapted from NEDA)
